Water Access Points
In addition to our beaches, coastal Georgia is home to 33% of the remaining salt marsh in the eastern US, unique blackwater cypress swamps, and amazing stretches of undeveloped rivers. The landscapes that we see paint a beautiful picture of our coast, they provide important habitat for abundant wildlife, and they offer us unprecedented opportunities to connect with these special places. To evaluate this indicator, we inventoried water access points, including boat landings, kayak put ins, and marinas within the 11 coastal counties (6 with ocean and river access, and 5 just inland with river access).
